I’ve been pretty excited about 312 Pizza Co opening in Germantown since I first heard about it six months ago. I’ve been searching for quality Chicago deep-dish za since moving to Nashville, but every single one that I’ve tried has been a disappointment. My hopes for 312 Pizza Co are high.
Yesterday I got tired of waiting and ventured over to their hot dog cart that was serving Chicago dogs, polish sausage, and giving away cheesecake samples. Naturally, we started with the cheesecake. They were serving up several gluten-free varieties. I tried an appetizer cheesecake with fresh herbs and a blueberry lemon cheesecake. They were both delicious, but not enough to bring me back.
BUT THE DOGS! Were they the best dogs I’ve had in Nashville? No. But they were the most authentic Chicago thing I’ve tasted or seen since I moved here (except maybe all those damn Hawks jersey’s every time they’re in town or that one time the Bears played here and they filled the stadium). If they are any precursor to the quality of the pizza, 312 Pizza Co will be a weekly necessity and that’s dangerous because it’s only a 15 minute walk from my house.
Here’s to hoping for a light, crispy crust and more cheese and sauce than any grown man should eat in one sitting.
